Kommetjie, Cape Town in the Western Cape, South Africa

Kommetje is a suburb of Cape Town in the Western Cape province of South Africa and it is situated about half way down the west coast of the Cape Peninsula. Kommetjie is located at the southern end of the long wide beach that runs northwards towards Chapman's Peak and Noordhoek.

Kommetjie is situated around a small, rocky inlet resembling a basin. Kommetjie is known for its beautiful wide beach with its interesting rocky patches. The conditions are good for surfers and the dense kelp forests in the shallow water are good grounds for snorklers and divers. Another one of kommetjie's attractions is the lighthouse which is the highest on the South African coast. The lighthouse is a hundred feet high and entirely made of steel. Kommetjie is also famous for its excellent crayfish.
